MPI Munich ATLAS Experiment
ATLAS is one of the two large detectors installed at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. The scientific focus of the ATLAS collaboration is the search for the Higgs boson (the particle at the origin of particle masses), precision studies of top- and b-quark physics, and the search for new physics beyond the Standard Model, e.g. supersymmetry. The Max-Planck Institute for Physics is contributing to the construction of three sub-detectors for ATLAS.
