Simulations of the Crack Region at Eta=3.2
(in the frame of ATLAS)
To understand the performance of the system of ATLAS calorimeters in the region around crack at pseudorapidity of 3.2, the combined test of EMEC, HEC and FCAL is foreseen. To determine the most optimal set-up of the test, detailed simulations of calorimeter response to charged and neutral pions were fulfilled at MPI. These simulations were done with ATLSIM in the frame of the standard ATLAS software (version of geometry 98_2). Ideally collimated beams of particles were traced, starting from the ATLAS interaction point. No smearing of their energy and of the coordinates of the interaction point was applied for these simulation.
