Status report Mainz 16.3.99 Lutz Koepke ----------- 1) Status of order for etched boards for 1999 and 2000 Still waiting for 2 boards that have been ordered with company KAWE in mid January. They completed the design work and all preparations for the etching, but have not yet received base material. They promised delivery by this week, but obviously haven't succeeded yet. After receiving the samples, we will compare the quality with the boards produced in the last order with Korsten & Goossens. Depending on the result and considering the price (KAWE is about 10% cheeper at the moment) we will go ahead with the order for this year. The amount of boards to be ordered will depend on the exact price but we expect more than 1000. Expected delivery is September 1999 at the latest. The complete production of etched boards (grand total 2900) will be finished in 2000, unless something goes bad in the production and we will have to order more spares. 2) The two people that went to Vancouver came back last week. They checked 786 boards of which 72 had to be rejected. However, 40 boards had already been rejected by the company but had been added to the delivery anyhow. That is, 32 prints were rejected by us. Reasons were severalfold. Some boards with remaining resist had been repaired by the company in an unsatisfactory way and had to be rejected. The total delivery was 900+ boards nominally, 987 boards were delivered. Of these, 915 were accepted as good. It seems though, that there are about 40 boards missing for boards type 9-16 and 15 missing for board type 25-28. This will be checked again at Triumf and with the company.
