Aim of the Workshop

The ATLAS Calorimeter Group at MPI/Munich plans a three-day meeting to discuss in detail all R&D activities of the ATLAS endcap and forward calorimeter groups in preparation for the upgrade of the LHC.

Scientific Program

  1. Minimum-bias pile-up: from LHC to sLHC
  2. Review of the Upgrade scenarios as discussed in the Letter of Intent: limitations of the present FCal, warm Mini FCal option
  3. Radiation level for endcap and forward calorimeter: status of in situ measurements and comparison with MC prediction
  4. Status of the HiLum experiment at IHEP/Protvino: status of analysis, signal shape reconstruction, open questions, program for future runs
  5. Status of R&D work for the new HEC cold electronics: results from irradiation runs, neutron flux monitoring issues, overview of technologies studied, development of new HEC amplifier, plans for LV system
  6. Status of R&D for the Mini FCal: detector design, development of electronics, simulation results on expected performance
  7. Realization of the upgrade program

The programme will be organized in 5 half day meetings starting Monday morning at 8:30 and ending Wednesday noon. For Wednesday afternoon we plan a short excursion to one of the places nearby.

You reach the main railway station from the Munich airport via urban railway (S-Bahn) within 40 minutes. See the timetable.

A way between an underground platform of S-Bahn station "Hauptbahnhof" ("Central Station") and railway platforms of BOB trains is shown on this map.

For more details check the "Ringberg Castle" and "Bayerische Oberlandbahn (BOB)" home pages.

We will provide a shuttle service from the Tegernsee railway station to the castle on Sunday afternoon (16:00-19:00).
